8 Things Bold Taught Us

Our team recently had the opportunity to participate in an 8-week course through Keller Williams Realty called BOLD, which stands for Business Objective: A Life by Design. It was a really rewarding experience that encouraged us to push ourselves past our comfort level, both in business and in personal development. We believe that we must challenge ourselves in order to grow and hope that many of the tools and positive mindset practices we learned will translate to our clients too. We learned that “experience is only good if reflected upon,” so here we go:

8 Things I Learned at BOLD:

1) Be Clear on What’s Important. There is never enough time to do everything, and yet, there is always enough time to do the most important things. What’s most important to you?

2) Fail Fast. Failures do what is tension relieving, while winners do what is goal achieving. Some of the most successful people weren’t naturally the best at what they do, they just learned to fail fast until they got it right.

3) Battle Distractions. It’s not the hours you put in, its what you put into the hours. Productivity thieves include: inability to say no, fear of chaos, poor health habits and environments that don’t support your goals. If it’s not on your schedule, it doesn’t exist.

4) Set Goals. And be willing to constantly course correct. If your life is not about your goals, it will become focused around your problems. With goals, we’re able to create our future in advance. Without them, we’ll naturally drive and take the path of least resistance. Goals are not about having things, they are about the person you become as you work towards them.

5) Be grateful. How often do you have gratitude and choose not to give it? You can’t receive gratitude unless you are give it back too. Don’t be afraid to tell someone you appreciate them. You might be surprised at how good it makes you feel too.

6) Don’t Give In To Your Drunk Monkey. We all have that voice in our head that tells us that we can’t accomplish something. Identify what your limiting belief is (i.e. your “drunk monkey”), and learn to push past it.

7) Think Up. Set affirmations for yourself and repeat them. There is no limit to how big you can dream. Here is our favorite, “You deserve to reach your goals and be successful.”

8) You Can Have Reasons or Results, and You Can’t Have Both. This was one of our favorite BOLD “Laws.” Stop making excuses and raise your level of commitment. That means doing what you said you would do, even when you don’t feel like it.

Huge thank you to Coach Wayne Salmans.
